Antique 19th Century Immaculada Concepcion, Virgin Mother Wood

Title: Antique 19th Century Immaculada Concepcion, Virgin Mother Wood
Description: The Santero culture in the Philippines is widely prevalent among Filipino Catholics, having been influenced by colonial Spain and various forms of folk Catholicism. Icons and other religious images were crucial for the conversions of indigenous peoples to the Roman Catholic Church. This tradition has remained strong in the Philippines and as such many wonderful examples can be found today.
This lovely antique carving of the Virgin Mary is done in the popular folk style. The carving has many great details and is mounted on a simple base which gives emphasis to the figure. She is missing her right hand, a feature not uncommon as the hands are typically carved from a separate piece of wood and get lost in the passage of time. An overall charming piece perfect as a display or accent to your home interiors.
Measurement: It measures 13 inches in height and 7 inches across.
Condition: In Good Condition
Weight: Item weighs approximately 850 grams
