Title: Vintage San Vicente Ferrer Post-War Wooden Santo Statue, St. Vincent
Description: St. Vincent Ferrer, a well-known saint of the Dominican Order, has a large following in the Philippines, in fact, several churches are named after him. He is known as the patron saint of construction workers and plumbers. This piece was hand-painted to bring out the details such as the face’s expression as well as to decorate the traditional Dominican habit. The saint is depicted with his right hand pointing towards the heaven, although the index finger has been lost over time. The left hand clutches as a bible and both these gestures is how he is traditionally portrayed. The wings, as well, have been lost but the halo, made of metal, remains intact. This statue is believed to have been carved sometime in the 1950s-60s.
Measurement: It measures 11.9 inches in height (including the base) and 4.3 inches across
