Marciano Galang

Born in Cabusao, Camarines Sur, 1945 (Multimedia works) Awarded the M.M. Castro scholarship, UP from 1962 to 1964. BFA UP 1966. First solo, Gallery Indigo, 1967. Was part of Contemporary art in Asia, 1965; the Phil Contemporary prints Show in Geneva, 1967; the First Indian Triennale, 1968; and the 7th Paris Biennale, 1971. Leans toward abstraction and minimalism bordering on the conceptual. Works identified with those Roberto Chabet, Lee Aguinaldo, and Ray Albano, all of whom are involved in exploring processes and materials outside the usual norms. Cert of merit, SNSAC of 1964; and hon mention, AAP annual, 1967. Was a Thirteen Artists awardee, CCP 1970. [CCP Vol IV-R.Mayo]
