Description: The devotion of the Filipinos has long been known to revolve around santos. These santos, the majority of which are made of wood, were a crucial instruments introduced during the Spanish period to aid in the evangelization of the Philippines.Up for sale is this lovely depiction of the beloved St. Roch (or San Roque as he is affectionately called in the Philippines). He is easily recognized here with his iconic pose: lifting up his robe to reveal a wound on his thigh which was said to have been miraculously healed by a nobleman’s dog. it is mounted on a simple octagonal base which looks to be original to the figure. An overall lovely antique sure to be a great addition to any santo collection.
Measurement: It measures 10.5 inches in height and 3.5 inches across.
