Description: The Santero culture in the Philippines is widely prevalent among Filipino Catholics, having been influenced by colonial Spain and various forms of folk Catholicism. Icons and other religious images were crucial for the conversions of indigenous peoples to the Roman Catholic Church. This tradition has remained strong in the Philippines and as such many wonderful examples can be found today.
Up for sale is this lovely and truly old depiction of St. Roch. He is easily identifiable here with his iconic pose, raising his robe to reveal a wound on his thigh. It is done in the popular folk style of the locals and is believed to be over one hundred years old.
Measurement: It measures 11 inches in height (including the base) and 4.9 inches across.
Condition: In Good Condition
