Description: Aplenty of these images became prevalent during the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines. This style of sculpture is the epitome of the Catholic devotion among Catholics in the Philippines because it represents the Redeemer in His time of passion and crucifixion, which is considered as one of the most sacred among different representations of religious art work befitting Christ. Made from batikuling, a local wood from the Philippines, it exemplifies the ingenuity of local artisans in crafting excellent yet dramatic work such as this. The patina of old age is prevalent in the surface. Minor cracks and abrasions are visible due to age. It is believed to be more than a hundred years old, and must have come from Central Luzon, Philippines.
Measurement: It measures 13.5 inches in height and 5.5 inches across.
