Title: Vintage Santo Religious Carving, San Miguel de Archangel 22”
Description: Devotion to St. Michael the Archangel is strong in the Philippines. In fact a district near the presidential palace was named after him. As a defender of good deeds and as an evil slayer, he is best remembered among the hierarchy of the nine archangels acknowledge publicly by the Roman Catholic Church. The image is made of molave, a sturdy Philippine wood, noted for its beauty. The craftsmanship is quite detailed and laborious making it a beautiful piece. In fact it can be classified as a classic artwork, giving emphasis to the wings, face, hands, ect. On his feet lay Satan, clearly defeated and banished. The patina of old age is obviously present, adding a luster from the by-gone era. Some minute abrasions and cracks are present due to age. It is believed to be more than a hundred years old and probably come from Northern Philippines.
Measurement: It measures 22 inches in height and 15 inches across.

Weight: Item weighs approximately 2,650 grams
