Title: Santo Vintage Religious Carving, San Roque Saint Roch 13”
Description: This well known saint has a mass following in the Philippines. The left knee wound is attributed to him, which traditionally was healed through licking by a count’s sporting dog. It is made entirely of batikulling, an indigenous tree from the Philippines. The saint’s eyes were made of crystals, and the detailed pleated garb is late baroque inspired. Though the right hand is missing, it still invokes religiosity and colonial art form. It is believed to be more than fifty years old and probably come from Central Luzon.
Measurement: It measures 13 inches in height and 5 inches across.
Condition: In Good Condition
Weight: approximately 850 grams
