Description: Nuestra Senora de Lourdes - The devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes was introduced by the Franciscan Capuchin Order when they built their church in the Walled City of Intramuros during the late 1890’s. Marian colors of blue and white manifests in her images all over the country, as such that there is a particular day of prayer and novena in her honor. Traditionally she is depicted in a prayerful gesture both hand folded in supplication. This image is made of Philippine batikuling, a native wood. Two tints were used as highlights. The contours of the face and body are well crafted signifying the local artisan’s ability to excel. Some impurities are visible such as cracks and abrasion due to age. It is believed to be more than seventy years old and probably come from Central Philippines.
Measurement: It measures 13.5 inches in height and 5 inches across.
