Description: The devotion of the Filipinos has long been known to revolve around santos. These santos, the majority of which are made of wood, were a crucial instruments introduced during the Spanish period to aid in the evangelization of the Philippines.
Up for sale is this lovely antique carving of the beloved Virgin. A truly old carving believed to be over one hundred years old as evident in her patina. Some traces of her old paint can still be seen. Most probably carved from batikuling or cotton wood, a favorite of local santeros due to their resistance to wood boring insects. An overall wonderful piece sure to be a great addition to any santo collection.
Measurement: It measures 11.5 inches in height and 4.5 inches across.
Condition: In Good Condition
