Pulilan: The Blessed Land

Title: Pulilan: The Blessed Land
Author: Jefarca Arts and Historical society
Synopsis: This publication is a historical feat in itself, as it is the first book dedicated to the scholarly study of the history, culture, and arts of the municipality of Pulilan. Located in the northern border of Bulacan, Pulilan has always been regarded as a “small town” compared to its bigger neighbours like Baliuag or Malolos. Nonetheless, this “small town: is witness to enormous historical events and personalities that go beyond its small boundaries, and is integral to the general landscape of Philippine history and and culture itself.
This book is a testament to that “small town’s” rich heritage, as well as the attention devoted to exhaustive scholarship of all things “Pulilania”. More than five years in the making, and involving more than twelve years of research, Pulilan: The Blessed Land contains hundreds of period and documentary photographs, many of whom have never been published before. Its texts bear the results of thousands of hours spent consulting and translating archival documents, both at the local as well as the national level; as well as transcribing the recorded interviewers of Pulilan’s precious memory-holders, its elders, many of whom have not lived to see the completion of this project. To them we owe our eternal thanks.
