Synopsis: This book is volume 9 of a 10 volume work published by Lahing Pilipino Publishing and edited by Alfredo Roces. The armed resistance against the United States hopelessly lost, the Philippine struggle for independence shifts to a political arena. While Filipino political leaders fought for more and more autonomy; the Americans in turn worked on seducing the population, particularly the lower middle-class, to the American way of life. In the end, the Filipinos gained a formal guarantee of political independence; but massive foundations for economic and cultural domination had been laid by the Americans.
