Nestor Villanueva

was born in San Pascual, Hagonoy, Bulacan 1955. (Figurative cubism) BFA UE 1975. Son of Cipriano Villanueva, who opened a frame and signboard shop on Dimasalang St, Vilco & Co. The place became hatching ground of the landscape revivalist, Dimasalang. Brothers Teofilo and Wilfredo are also serious artists. Is a brother-in-law of Dimasalang pillars Romulo Galicano and Sofronio Mendoza. Started to paint at age 14. One man show, Gallery One 1975. Exhibited with Dimasalang at ABC Gallery, 1976. [Family-JS]*** Has had two-man shows in 1980 and 1983 at Hidalgo, and was part of at Ayala Museum, 1977. Exhibited with the Hagonoy Art Group at Natl Museum in 1988, and at the Shell Reunion Show at Intercom Hotel, 1989. Won 1st prize at the SNSAC of 1970 and 1971, the UE student art contest of 1977, and the UST spot competition of 1978. Was 3rd prize winner at the Downtown YMCA Art competition of 1972, and 2nd prize winner, Holy Cross Sculpture Design competition, 1975. Won 1st hon mention in 1976 at the UE Student art contest of 1977, and the UST spot competition of 1978. Was 3rd prize winner at the Downtown YMCA Art competition of 1972, and 2nd prize winner, Holy Cross Sulpture Design competition, 1975. Won 1st hon mention in 1976 at the UE Student Art contest, and in 1988 at the Metrobank at the Metrobank Natl Painting contest. [BIOS-JS]
