Synopsis: The book, “ 8 3/8 x 11 ¼”, consist of 208 pages, 131 colored and 286 black and white. There were in all 417 plates used. Many of the illustrations are from private collections and were available for public view until their inclusion in the book. No one interested in Philippine art, whether Filipino or from another country, should be without this book. It is not only the biography of an artist who is considered the most inspired of a Filipino painters, but is also a history of social and political development during his time. It shows how he reacted to his environment and, in turn, how he substantially influenced the development of Philippine art.
