Roger San Miguel

( Figurative expressions ) Painted the human figure in curvilinear shapes and forms with earth color and hues that caused movement and life through progressive graphic shapes. Although he follows the Amorsolo tradition, his virtuously of style swings him the other way into neo-expressionist works. Like all the conservatives, he gravitates towards the representational. [Mobilways & Silangan]*** Started out as a Mabini artist and a member of the group of conservatives, Talahib. In the ‘70s, was attracted to various styles and expressions and has been painting large-size floral and figurative works in a painterly, expressionist vein. Has exhibited with J. Elizalde Navarro in Indonesia. [BIOS-JS]*** One among the selected art pieces acquired by the PICC to adorn its vast interiors, is an oil brushwork in cool, monochromatic tones by artist Roger San Miguel. Entitled the serene painting depicts the bounty of our costal waters and swamplands, with fishing a rich source of livelihood for many of our folks in the countryside.
